Waste became immensely precious for us. It became the beginning of something new, of something great. Not at all programmatic, it has been more of a spontaneous movement, or better, a necessity, which turned into a real need throughout the time.”

“The story we find written on each scratch of this recycled material tells us about those objects turned into something special by those people who interacted with them. A stratification of stories, of past lives.”

“It is very stimulating to follow a process from when it’s still an idea to when it becomes tangible. It allows you to vary and change constantly. It enables you to move your hands and creativity at the same time and it brings new life into the world. It has the power to always tell new stories and after all what’s more meaningful than that?”

Controprogetto consists of Matteo Prudenziati and Alessia Zema, who design and realize unique pieces, custom furniture, installations and public spaces mainly using recycled materials. They work independently or in collaboration with architects and designers, from the design to the installation of the pieces. Their factory is based in Milan.
