“Because the truth is that diabetes never leaves you alone. Your daily life revolves around it and around the constant fear of feeling sick. You’re scared of everything, even of going to bed: if your glycemia falls suddenly and you do nothing about it, the risk of falling into a coma is real. Even feeling stressed, or in love.”
“It became normal that in order to attend fashion shows, I would have to remove the diabetes device I have on my arm. I used to tear off what was lifesaving, of which I have a limited amount, just to avoid uncomfortable questions. I didn’t want to be rejected. I just came to Milan at the time and I was starting to gain my independence. I wanted to be part of that world at all costs, to fit in.”
“I used to be scared of everything, and now I’m about to go to Costa Rica to do bungee jumping. I became the person I would have liked to talk to when I was a kid. I used to be scared of everything, and now I’m about to go to Costa Rica to do bungee jumping. I became the person I would have liked to talk to when I was a kid.”
